If this motto were taken too narrowly, the Congress might have been limited to only three sections, the topics of which would be the problems of the use of chemistry in agriculture, food industry, and medicine. But the organizers of the Congress undertook a considerably broader task. Sections at first glance entirely unrelated to the triad cited, but actually very closely involved with it, also appeared at the Congress. For example, the section on analytical chemistry, or the symposium on higher chemical education.
