The third quarterly progress report is a Product Engineering Measure (PEM) of the improvements in production techniques to increase the reliability and capability of a high voltage miniature silicon rectifier. The work performed during this time period under USAECOM Contract Number DA-36-039-AMC-06l57(E) of 30 December, 196U, includes:n1. the adoption of a "standard" pellet design to use as a control for additional experiments.n2. the evaluation of pellet design experiments performed during the second quarter.n3. the optimization of the glassing process to yield acceptable devices.nh. the replacement of the copper lead wire material with copper alloy lead wire to obtain reliable welding to the device slugs.n5. results from the A 13 matrix testing through the 1000-hour readout.n6. the presentation of the Eyring Model for expressing failure rates.n7. modification of the proposed device specification.n8. use of a new switching speed circuit to better define recovery time.n9. the delivery of the Third Engineering Samples.nA PERT analysis depicts the progress of this program and provides certain , conclusions regarding the work performed to date.
