Method of Joining Plastic Sheathed Cables with Electric Heating Wire

The paper introduces a newly developed method of jointing plastic sheathed cables by means of an electric heating wire, in particular with regard to polyethylene sheathed telephone cable. The electric heating wire joints the cable sheath to the sleeve made of the same plastic material through application of heat. The advantages are that it: is relatively economic, calls for no special skill, requires no fire, takes little time, always gives reliable results, enables branch jointing and opening and re-closing of joints, can work on portable power source.
