Industrial Preparedness Measure: Study of Improved Methods of Drying Casting Powder

Four methods of drying casting powder were studied, namely, 'sweetie' barrel, bed drying, Roto-louvre, and dielectric. Of the methods studied, the dielectric drying offers the most advantages in regard to safety, adaptability to remote and continuous processing, drying time, and operating cost. Estimated annual savings of $178,260 may be obtained by using dielectric drying in place of the present dryhouse method. (Author)
