A METHOD OF MONITORING THE CARDIAC BEHAVIOR OF PHOLIS GUNNELLUS

The problem consisted of devising and building a device with which the cardiac behavior of the rock gunnel could be monitored in sea water, as water is withdrawn, and in the air.nIt was found that using the Ampersand electrodes in connection with the medium gain, high impedance, differential amplifier designed and constructed was a most satisfactory method. The field-effect transistors in the first stage provide the necessary large input impedance, and the high gain second stage provides the necessary voltage amplification for clear presentation on a recorder or oscilloscope.nFigure 5a is a recording made when the placement of the heart electrode was such that a waveform clearly typical of cardiac tissue electrical activity was obtained.
