摘要

The mass effect was studied in a unidirectionally solidified casting by determining mechanical properties vs. distance into the casting. Dendritic variables such as microsegregation and dendritic size,etc.,were measured as functions of distance. A cause and effect relationship was established between dendritic variables and mechanical properties. This relationship allowed the formulation of a homogenization treatment that resulted in ductilities of 50percent reduction of area,at a tensile strength of 240,000psi. (Author)
