The note considers the power function of one-sided tests of the 100Beta % point of a normal population which are based on the non-central t-statistic. By combining two approximations given by Johnson and Welch,an approximate expression for the power function is obtained which has desirable properties from the viewpoint of power function comparisons. Use of this approximation is illustrated by several examples. (Author)
