摘要

Presentation of a computational algorithm that provides a scheme for expanding the determinant of a matrix whose elements are polynomials of a common variable. The procedure, applicable to a variety of sys-tem analysis and optimizations where the requirement to resolve the coefficients of a determinantal polynomial is encountered, is specifically applied to this problem as it relates to the design equations for processors of signals in airborne moving tar-get indicator (AMTI) pulse doppler radars. The relevance of the algorithm to the construction of AMTI systems with characteristics enhancing detection of objects over land is clarified by a discussion of a generalized delay-line canceler signal processing scheme.
