"During the first half of this program, emphasis has been directed at improving the sensitivity of crystal video detectors and at establishing a better understanding of the actual mechanisms involved in crystal video detection.nA theoretical investigation has led to the dev envy and noise behavior;these expressions permit the calculation of theoretically obtainable sensitivities. The influence of detector parasitic parameters on detector sensitivity has been explained. In addition, a series of measurement techniques have been developed which enable detector diode evaluation to be made in terms of conversion efficiency and noise properties.
