The objective of this research program has been the experimental and analytical determination and correlation of thermal and electrical conductivities of biological fluids and tissues both under normal and stressed conditions. The stressing consists of freeze-thaw processes at slow and rapid rates. A second objective of the program has been to establish the relations between changes in these physical properties of biological specimens and the physical stresses im¬posed upon them.nFor the experimental studies, human biological specimens were mostly obtained from the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego and animal specimens were obtained from Taloné Meat Packing Company in Escondido. Cryogenically frozen samples of blood were obtained from the Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco.
