DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL TIES IN THE FIELD OF GEOGRAPHY AND PREPARATION FOR THE ⅩⅩ INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CONGRESS

摘要

The immediate tasks of the National Committee were: a) representing Soviet geographers in the International Geographic Union and other international organizations;b) effecting with them necessary contacts on scientific and organizational questions;c) preparing and carrying out measures connected with participation by Soviet geographers in international conferences and other international geographic activities;and d) de¬veloping ties and scientific contacts with foreign geographic institu¬tions and scientists. All this greatly varied activity of the National Committee has as its overall purpose ensuring a due role for Soviet geographic science in solving the most important theoretical problems of world science: an all-round acquaintance with the theoretical, methodological, and practical achievements of geography abroad;and criticism of erroneous reactionary views in the field of geographical science.
