The Influence of Static Design Loads on the Natural Frequencies of Portal Frames

Equations for determining the natural frequencies of simple portal frames in which the members are subjected to constant axial loads are derived. Several numerical examples are presented which illustrate the negligible effect of these constant axial loads on the natural frequencies of practical portal frames. (Author)
