Analyses and forecasting of heat exchange, fog probability and visibility over the oceans and a number of other numerical environmental analyses/forecasts require a detailed analysis and forecasting of surface air vapor pressure and temperature. Based on earlier encouraging studies by a few Norwegian researchers, such response computation and numerical analysis/forecasting of surface air vapor pressure and temperature is outlined. It is shown that the changes of surface air properties, and sea-air temperature and vapor pressure differences are mainly determined by the sea surface temperature gradient in the direction of the surface wind as well as by wind speed. The average 'equilibrium' values of the differences are positive and probably vary somewhat with some determining conditions. A numerical analysis routine for these elements, which has been in operation for nearly a year, is described. Verification of numerical analysis/forecasting results is shown, indicating that the model is satisfactory.
