Military Potential (Category I) Test of Reflex-Collimator Gunsight.

Six reflex-collimator sights for the M1 and M14 rifles were tested at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) during the period 24 January through 14 June 1966. Testing consisted of accuracy, adverse conditions, and protracted firing. The dispersion obtained with the test sights was approximately 40% greater than that obtained with issue sights and retention of zero was not as reliable as with issue sights. A considerable amount of parallax existed in each of the test sights. The test sights lacked durability to satisfactorily withstand the shocks incident to firing. The modified reflex-collimator sight submitted to limited testing indicated that there was some degree of improvement in durability. (Author)
