A Contribution to the Theory and Application of the Zero-Crossing Phenomenon to Detection and Location

The memorandum is concerned with the application of the average zero-crossing count of a noise record to problems of detecting and locating a target. Consideration is given both to the statistical distribution of the counts and to the relationship of this distribution with that of the intervals between successive zeros. At this stage rather more emphasis has been given to threshold detection than to the subsequent process of location. (Author)
