Lung tissues of 8 mammalian species, including man, were assayed for collagen and elastic content. Four distinct groups were found with respect to total collagen content;2 distinct groups with reference to the elastic content. Collagen/elastic ratios are reported. Anatomical and biochemical studies on this subject are compared and no close correlation was demonstrated.
