A temperature compensating transistorized, linear, unity gain preamplifier was designed and constructed for use as a coaxial cable line driver in a mobile gamma-ray scintillation spectrometry system. Its differential linearity was better than plus or minus 1 percent with input signals up to 3 volts when loaded with a terminated 93-Ohm, 500-ft. coaxial cable. The use of a simple thermistor temperature compensating netowrk in the preamplifier of the detector-preamplifier package gave a system gain variation normalized at 25C, as a function of temperature of less than + 4 percent between 0C and 25C and less than - 1 percent between 25C and 50C.
