摘要

The equivalent-barotropic model is formulated for an ocean with a fixed, uneven bottom and a free surface. The model is applied to predict the two-dimensional, vertically-integrated flow in a channel which includes the Gulf Stream from Cape Hatteras to the Grand Banks. By properly weighting the bottom topography in the model, meander patterns are formed which are similar to those observed. Examples of predictions by the model are shown and the results are discussed. (Author)
