This report considers the flow of water through and over the surface of slopes constructed of loose rockfill. Results of tests on various types and gradings of rock are used to check a theoretical equation relating rate of flow with stone size and slope. Further equations are devel¬oped for the contour of the water surface of flow through rockfill.nSeveral model dams, 3 feet high, were tested using various gradings and combinations of gradings of rock and demonstrated that the equa¬tions are applicable to over and throughflow rockfill dams.
