The Use of X-Ray Scattering to Study the Anomalous Elastic Properties of Fe-Ni Alloys

The research was initiated with an experimental investigation of the temperature dependence of integrated x-ray intensities from a number of different reflections for several Fe-Ni single crystals of different compositions. It soon became quite clear that there were two major areas of immediate concern: first, an assessment of the reproducibility of the experimental techniques; second, a thorough experimental and theoretical materials analysis. In the other field of development, materials research, considerable work has already been completed and generated a good deal of additional research of both an experimental and theoretical nature.
