摘要

Analysis of the carbon-oxygen reaction, at normal pressures, with the use of simultaneous size and weight measurements on single spheres, has substantiated the three zone theory for solid-gas reactions. Experimental results have shown that the true chemical reaction is of zero order with an apparent activation energy of 45 kcal/mole. By combining a zero order, chemical reaction, rate expression with diffusion expressions, it was found that over the temperature range investigated in this study, the overall reaction rate may be described by a single rate expression.
