摘要

The report describes measurements of the radiation impedance as influenced by acoustic interaction for two small magnetostrictive hairpin stack transducers at an air-water surface. In particular, the effect of thin-metal compliant-tube arrays on the acoustic interaction impedance was investigated for various geometries. These tubes, which were made of flattened hollow aluminum tubes, have been suggested by W. J. Toulis in order to influence the acoustic interaction among sonar array elements. It has been found that compliant tubes can be constructed and used in this way to influence the interaction impedance. The purpose of the study is to lead to design criteria for more efficient sonar arrays which include compliant tubes. (Author)
