Study of Surface Properties of Atomically-Clean Metals and Semiconductors

Clean surfaces of a zinc oxide single crystal were studied by LEED. No evidence was found for the displacement of atoms previously formed in other semiconductor surfaces. Little or no chemisorption of hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon monoxide was obtained. Nor was there any photosorption, as previously reported on zinc oxide powders. (Author)
