The USAMBRL No. 3 Electronic-Adjustable Prehension Model 1 Hand was redesigned in order to reduce the weight of the system. The weight of Model 1 was reduced by 15% by the modification; the location of the center of gravity was shifted to a more acceptable position on the basis of elbow lift requirements. However, the system is still considered heavy for the intended purposes. (Author)
