The development of networks using only two-pole subcircuits, defined as resonators, permits use of physical systems that are compatible with integrated electronics. Both multiresonator crystal wafers and active RC two port resonators are applicable, and have the potential to greatly reduce the size and cost of frequency selective networks. This paper describes application of an active lattice with paralleled resonators, in the arms to the simultaneous approximation of specified transmission magnitude vs frequency and phase vs frequency characteristics. The approximation is by real frequency interpolation, or exact matching at certain frequencies. Examples indicate that the error between samples is usually tolerable, especially in cases for which the desired characteristics are smooth. Thus, the procedure produces useful networks. (Author)
