Analysis of Nitrogen Resin Modified Baking Enamel Vehicles Using Infrared Spectrophotometry

An infrared absorbance ratio method is used to quantitatively determine the phthalic anhydride content of baking enamels. This procedure is combined with an extension and revision of a previously reported absorbance ratio method so that simultaneously melamine formaldehyde and/or urea formaldehyde are determined. The infrared spectrum is obtained on a solvent free film of the isolated vehicle. (Author)
