ON THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF DIGITAL FILTERS FOR PROCESSING DATA IN THE STUDY OF RANDOM FIELDS

In the study of random fields in various branches of geophysics it becomes necessary to filter the initial data. A number of reasons for the necessity of this operation could be given.nThe presence of oscillations of lower frequency than those in the spectral band being studied will be shown by "merging of the mean", which makes the realizations of random fields in question inhomogeneous. The presence of oscillations with higher frequencies in the spectrum of a process makes it harder to distinguish low-frequency oscillations and makes pertain calculations in discrete form very complicated. Those difficulties can be avoided by preliminary filtration of the process.
