SHELLS IN THE LIGHT OF GENERALIZED CONTINUA.

摘要

Some aspects of recent developments in the nonlinear theories of deformable surfaces (as two dimensional generalized continua),including the Cosserat surface,are outlined with a view toward their application to the (three dimensional) elastic shells. A fairly detailed development of a linear theory of an elastic Cosserat surface is presented and some features of its constitutive equations are discussed. (Author)
