摘要

Analytic justification is given for a group of encoding techniques that are restrained to minimize intersymbol interference while encoding at 9600 bits per second data transmission rates for distortionless handling on telephone channels or transmission lines having 400 to 2800 cps bandwidth or the conventional 2400 bits per sec. capacity. The main theoretical approach shows how combining single side band modulation to effectively shift the spectrum and eliminate the D.C. signal component yield an encoding criteria that can effect this d.c. suppression while at the same time sampling a m-ary multilevel code at 4800 cps for encoding into a 2400 cps line.
