摘要

A number of exact and approximate solutions are presented for the axisymmetrical temperature distribution and thermal stresses in thin spherical, conical and spherically-blunted shells. In the heat conduction analysis, the thermal input is assumed to be in the form of aerodynamic heating. Spherical shell and truncated cone problems with various boundary conditions are solved; also presented are solutions involving a combination of these shell elements, namely, a spherically-blunted cone. Thermal stress solutions are obtained for the foregoing problems. The governing equations assume no coupling between the thermal and elastic fields. J. W. Geckeler's assumptions are used to get the approximate solutions for hemispherical, conical, and combined shell configurations. Both simply-supported and fixed-edge boundary conditions are considered. (Author)
