ON THE CALCULATION OF FIELDS OF METEOROLOGICAL ELEMENTS USING OBSERVATIONAL DATA FROM SATELLITES

The question of deducing the wind and geopotential fields in the middle atmosphere from cloud amounts has been examined in a number of papers (4, 5, 6).nFurther investigation has shown that it is possible to regard the deduction of the 850 mb contour field as well as the 1000-500 mb thickness field as within the framework of the systems quoted above.
