Two Cinemoid Color Mediums, purple and bright rose, were calibrated as radiation detectors. The dyed plastic undergoes optical changes in the visible spectrum for exposures between 10 to the 5th and 7th power R. Measurement of optical change was simplified with the use of densitometer instead of spectrophotometer readout. The changes obtained with the densitometer color filters were only slightly decreased from those obtained with the spectrophotometer set at the wavelength of optimum color change. Moisture content had some effect on both Cinemoids whereas oxygen content effected only the exposure of the purple Cinemoid. The bright rose Cinemoid was found useful for measuring pulsed and steady-state electron exposures and for measuring gamma-ray exposure in a mixed gamma ray-neutron field. (Author)
