Thermal Decomposition of Silver Selenite in Contact with Sodium Carbonate

摘要

Within the temperature range of 100-550C the contact interaction of silver selenite with sodium carbonate was studied. Experiments showed that in presence of sodium carbonate the process of decomposition of silver selenite proceeds considerably faster up to 500C owing to the lowering of the partial pressure of vapors of selenium dioxide. Above 500 degrees this reaction increase is due to the reaction in the melt. A description of the crystall-optical characteristics of sodium selenite and sodium selenate, elemental selenium, silver selenite are given. (Author)
