摘要

The attenuation characteristics of selected metals for electromagnetic radiation were investigated over a broad region of the electromagnetic spectrum. An analytical study was made to determine the attenuation of radiant electromagnetic energy as it is absorbed by metals, such as tungsten and silver, and to determine the depth of penetration of the electromagnetic energy within these metals at elevated temperatures. The electromagnetic spectral region of interest extended from 0.00001 to 1000 microns. The temperature ranges examined were from room temperature to 2800 K for tungsten and to 1000 K for silver.
