Defining a Role for the Oncogene Beta-Catenin in Prostate Epithelial Growth and Invasion.

We are investigating the molecular basis of prostate development in order to understand the pathways which control prostate epithelial differentiation, proliferation, and invasion. In the last year, we were able to develop and validate a new system for interrogation of gene function in prostate development. Using this model, we demonstrated an absolute requirement for canonical Wnt signaling in prostate lineage specification and bud formation.
