Method of Coating Parts to Give Wear Resistance

A method is described for coating parts to give antiwear properties. The method includes degreasing, washing with water, phosphating, treating with a composition containing molybdenum disulfide and an alcohol-bakelite-graphite preparation, and finally drying. To obtain a coating of greater strength and to increase the wear resistance of the parts, the treating composition is supplemented with ethyl alcohol and the parts (after drying) are heated to 300-400 degrees C, held at this temperature, then gradually cooled. In another variant of this method the treating composition consists of 80-100 (pts by wt) ethyl alcohol, 2-3 (pts by wt) of the alcohol graphite-bakelite preparation, and 7-8 (pts by wt) molybdenum disulfide.
