Bioengineering Study on the Nature and Function of the Human Cardiovascular System

Mechanical models have been constructed and operated for the purpose of studying the nature and function of a human cardiovascular system. Three types of models are described and the appropriateness of each as a mechanical analogue is evaluated. It is demonstrated that the models have been developed to a point at which serious research on flow of fluid in such recirculatory elastic systems can be conducted. (Author)
