摘要

An experimental concept is described for investigating and measuring a number of effects in an atmospheric environment associated with high-altitude nuclear testing. Specifically, these effects include atmospheric temperature and pressure before and after detonation, thermal radiation, overpressure, shock wave radius time determination, and determination or approximation of the 'blast wind' velocity caused by a nuclear explosion. The ground equipment and payload which have been test-certified for performance are described, and actual test flight certification performance results are summarized. Improvements in overall system capability and reliability of the payload design are described. (Author)
