Radioactivity of Some Unusual Celestial Energy Sources

摘要

Research conducted to discover whether gamma radiation emanates from various celestial objects is described. Radiation at photon energies between 30 Kev and 570 Kev was detected from several galactic sources and from one beyond the Milky Way during the balloon-borne experiments. The significance of these, the first observations conducted at wavelengths that include those associated with radioactivity, is that they may help explain how the generation and violent release of energies equivalent to the annihilation of one hundred million solar masses occurs in natural sources.
