摘要

This paper discusses the interface separating a metal oxide from an aqueous electrolyte solution. Two experimental techniques were applied: adsorption measurements through potentiometric titrations of oxide suspensions and electrical capacity measurements on single crystals. The oxides selected for detailed study were rutile (TiO2) and zincite (ZnO). A result of this investigation is a new insight into the nature of oxide/aqueous solution interfaces. An important accomplishment is the formulation of a thermodynamic treatment of adsorption at the oxide-solution interface. (Author)
