Development of Compact Xenon Arc Lamps with Integral Reflectors

The report describes the efforts to design and construct three compact short arc xenon lamps for searchlight applications. Designs for 150, 500 and 2000 watt lamps were completed. These lamp designs incorporate integral reflectors and high fill gas (xenon) pressures (300 psi) and resulted in narrow beam angles, high peak beam candlepowers and high total luminous efficiencies.
