摘要

The primary objective of this talk is to elicit interest of both the medical doctor and the engineer in consider¬ing together overall problems of automation in the de¬livery of health care. We will do this by describing two problems and trying to show that considerations of instru¬mentation are only a part, and perhaps a small part, in creating an automation sequence. We will explore a patient appointment system, consider some implications of a patient monitoring complex, and attempt to draw some conclusion on methods of procedure useful for the design and operation of automated systems in hospitals. We will not go into hardware detail on any specific system.
