摘要

Electrical stimulation of the cervical sympathetic trunk of unanesthetized, brain-stem sectioned cats produces a parallel increase in intraocular pressure and mass activity of the retinal ganglion cells. The increase in nervous output of the retina is not produced by the rise in intraocular pressure, since it still occurs after removal of the cornea and the lens. Further, artificial changes in intraocular pressure, similar to those induced by sympathetic stimulation, do not affect the nervous activity of the retina. The effects of cervical sympathetic stimulation on single fibers in the optic chiasm have also been studied. They consist in a marked increase in frequency of discharge. (Author)
