The report consists of night airglow observations carried out over a number of years at Mount Abu - description of equipment, presentation of data relating to hydroxyl bands OH (7-2) and OH(8-3), Na(5893), OI(5577) and OI(6300), and discussion of their diurnal, seasonal and solar activity variations, and their inter-relationships; and twilight glow and the effect of aerosols in the stratosphere on the glow; Measurements of atmospheric ozone and its vertical distribution, discussion of ozone amounts in different parts of the world with special reference to low latitudes and the monsoon, and the differences in the distribution in northern and southern hemispheres, the connection between the quasi-biennial changes in atmospheric ozone in low and middle latitudes and the quasi-biennial oscillations of equatorial stratospheric winds; are discussed along with a brief discussion of the importance of ozone, radioactive isotopes, airglow and D region studies for elucidating the physics and dynamics of the stratosphere and mesosphere.
