摘要

Five tick-borne viruses, four Egyptian (Chenuda, Qalyub, Quaranfil and Nyamanini) and one Sudanese (Wad Medani) strain were inoculated into rabbit kidney (RK) cell cultures. The degree of cytopathic effect (CPE) produced in them varied from complete destruction of the cells within 48 hours by Chenuda Ar 1170 (titer 10 to the 9-1 power CPD50/ml) to negligible effect by the remaining viruses except for a late but distinct CPE in case of Nyamanini Ar 1304 (titer 10 to the 4.3 power CPD50/ml). Heated immune homologous serum to which accessory substance (fresh normal mouse serum) had been added neutralized 10 to the 4th power CPD50 of Chenuda and Nyamanini viruses respectively in RK cell cultures. The possible use of RK cells in the identification as well as in the assay of Egyptian strains of tick-borne viruses was discussed. (Authof)
