摘要

The corrosion behaviour of welded nitrogen bearing stainless steels has been studied. A number of welding processes have been used, together with material of from 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) to 3/8 in. (9. 5 mm) thickness. It has been shown that weld decay is unlikely to arise, and that welding has no significant effect on the overall corrosion behaviour of these materials. Corrosion behaviour has been found to be equivalent to that of conventional steels. The results have been related to the density of heat affected zone (HAZ) grain boundary precipitation and are expected to be generally applicable to materials of similar or lower carbon content.
