The various problems arising in measurements of the angular variation of dissymmetric light scattering by means of conventional scattering cells are reviewed, including several problems to which only scant attention had been paid previously. Above all, a new type of scattering cell, provided with both a terminal Rayleigh horn and a 'Wide Angle Horn' is described which eliminates all complications due to reflections of primary and scattered beams. Results obtained with the new cell agree very well with the theoretical data calculated for the scattering system used, a monodisperse Dow latex. The results are also compared with those obtained with a conventional scattering cell after correcting the data, in the latter instance, by means of an improved version of the Kratohvil correction equation.
