摘要

The paper reports on studies on the spatial uniformity and time characteristics of the Kerr cell. It analyzes the optimal construction and electrical parameters of a Kerr cell designed to form light pulses with minimal rise time. The analysis shows it is possible to build a shutter giving a series of light pulses of approximately 10 to the - 11th power sec duration. A Kerr cell with which a light monopulse of 0.4-nsec duration can be obtained is described. Ruby laser light of such duration was used in a design for seven-frame shadow photography of high-speed processes. (Author)
