Low temperature luminescence anomalies of MnF2 crystals were studied. The luminescence spectra were studed by means of a prism monochromator. The intensity of luminescence was recorded by the EEU-17A photomultiplier. The three optical transitions in MnF2 were studied by means of the monochromatic light. The phonon intensity decreases rapidly with a decrease in temperature from 77 to 20 degrees K. It is proposed that the luminescence anomalies observed in antiferromagnetic crystals are associated with the condensation of local magnetic vibrations.
