The Photoelectric Effect Without Photons

摘要

Theories and models associated with quantum effects are reviewed both historically and functionally. A development is presented as a one-dimensional model to establish that the photoelectric effect can be considered the interaction of a classical radiation field illuminating a quantized atom. Thus the introduction of the photon concept is neither logically implied nor necessary for the explanation of the photoelectric effect. (Author)
